When Qays ibn al Mulawwah saw Laila bint Mahdi for the first time, at their schoolhouse in the desert lands as a young Bedouin poet filled with unwritten verses in his heart; a profound change occurred in the universe as their eyes connected in that moment of destiny's grace and love bloomed between them like flowers, in the arid sands.

As Qays' love intensified for Laila over time, he expressed his feelings openly through poetry and declarations of affection before the public eye earned him a title- Majnu or the madman. He would often stand under the night sky and recite verses that moved the toughest critics to tears; his words filled with the intensity of a love that engulfed him completely.

The clans started murmuring amongst themselves as whispers filled the air quietly in their community where values, like respect and standing held significance; such open expressions of love were seen as disgraceful by many. When Majnu eventually mustered up the courage to propose to Laila's father for her hand to marry her; his request was met with a stern "No". The same verses that immortalized their love story also became its undoing. No father would entrust his daughter to a man labelled as a lunatic. Even Laila wanted to get married to Majnu. But destiny had other plans.

Heartache after heartache ensued when Laila had to tie the knot with a nobleman named Ibn Salam despite her enduring love, for her poet beau Majnu. Unable to cope with the agony of their parting ways, Majnu sought solace in the wilderness among creatures, than human company. In that terrain of rocks and sand, Majnu penned down some of the exquisite Arabic poetry ever composed capturing a love so deep that it surpassed mere physical distance.

The wild became his dwelling place, with the creatures as his friends and his verses as the connection between his soul and Laila"s heartache. Villagers would occasionally catch sight of him looking gaunt and unkempt while jotting down words on the sand or whisperings to the breeze. They'd offer him sustenance and drinks in exchange for verses that stirred their feelings about love, to the core.

Over time Majnu's affection remained unwavering despite the passing years. In his verses, he portrayed a love that transcended attraction evolving into a nearly divine connection. He no longer yearned to own Laila in the material realm. His affection had evolved into something more sacred enduring in his poems Laila transformed into more, than just a woman she symbolized divine grace and flawless love.
